Governance simply means the manner or act of ruling or controlling a state, or an organization. The government frames certain rules and regulations which are to be implemented in the state by the appointed representatives. In this article, we will be taking a look at the different types of governance prevailing in the world.
1) Democracy
Many of us would be quite aware of this form of governance as it prevails in most of the countries. Democracy is a government for the people, of the people and by the people. Here people get to elect a representative of their choice and the person with the majority votes gets to become the representative/leader. The person, who wins the election, also makes the political party win, from which he belongs.
2) Dictatorship!
Dictatorship is the opposite of Democracy! In this form of governance, a person forcefully attains the leader position and rules his area and the people residing there. Here the expression of freedom is not given any importance to the citizens of the state. Only the people close to the dictator may be favoured. Some major examples of such personalities are Fidel Castro of Cuba & Adolf Hitler of Germany. In Dictatorship, people are usually unhappy with the way things work.
3) Monarchy
Monarchy is a system which was a lot popular in the earlier days but with time it has reduced to a very few number of countries. In a monarchy system, there is one head for the state which is generally the king or the queen. The next head of the state would be the first member born in the family. Earlier, Pharaohs used to be considered the representatives of God sent on earth but with times things have changed. In great countries like Sweden, Spain, etc Kings act as nominal heads of the state.
4) Republic
This is kind of mix governance where everyone can play the major role for a while. The main power lies in the hands of elected representatives and the people of the country. The representatives are head by a single individual (the President).
The modern government changes according to the previously happened political and historical events (wars, colonialism, etc).
